Thanks btw. Appreciate it.
Some people still think im shilling for hbb š¤·
The more reviews and posts I see the more restless I get, god so hyped I hope it gets shipped coming week
mele is on the way and patiently waiting. will arrive next week. i hope. after seeing the reviews here and various location across the net, fb included, i grossly observed that those closely match HBB library, 80% loved their purchase. Havenāt receive my purchase yet but i know iām gonna love it. my overall 2 cents on the overall package is that i would not mind the iem case dropped from the overall package just to have the price lower say another 5 - 10 bucks and a smaller package overall? that would make it closer to BLON and make it even more attractive to newcomers? or maybe have another tier that is similar to the current price and set that includes the case with maybe a signed HBB card with a summary history to the iem? just my 2 cents
They fit. You have to work hard to get them on, though.
Not sure what you mewn, but iāve been always a troll š¤·
Iāve had a very busy and tiring weekend. IRL got on the way and I didnāt had much time to enjoy my jams. Only thing Iāve listen to was the new Billie Eilish album, āHappier than everā, on another IEM.
Today I woke and replayed the same album with Mele. Great replay. I wanna talk about a track because itās the one Iām more familiar with, itās called āOxytocinā. Itās one of the typical BE signatures. Heavy sub-bass track, distorted claps/cymbal, with fast melodies. Billie is usually whispering or āsinging without putting any effortā on lower frequencies for a female.
First thing I noticed is that the overall detailed dropped on Mele. Iād say itās around 80-90% of what I heard before. Dynamics are even, timbre is goodly. Mids, for my surprise, were on point. Her voice is amazing.
To me what really made a difference was the sub-bass texture and detail that dropped when I switched to Mele. Mid-bass had more presence, so this also compensated a bit for the sub-bass quality. Overall, Iād say itās on the 90% of the replay. Quite good.
Treble had less air and detail, Iād say itās around 80-90% of the original replay I heard. Great for the price, no doubt.
Did some A/B just to test if my notes were correct, and I got moving. The IEM I was A/Bing Mele with is Variations. Take a second to think about that. 10 to 11 times the price. Performance? You should try by yourself, but Iād say diminishing returns are alive and kicking. Libraries matter a lot, and for some, you wonāt need a 500$ to jam it.
Hey man, thanks for putting in the time even though youāve had a busy weekend! I empthasise - not finding enough time these days to seriously test the Meleā¦
I can say that I was also blown away by the Mele when I listened to Happier than ever album. My fav tracks so far are I didnāt change my number and Billie Bossa Nova. There is some serious rumble!
However, the Mele doesnāt seem to reproduce more powerful & higher register female vocalists to my satisfaction. Iām talking Adele, Christina Aguilera, Lizzo, LP. Is this just me, or is there something I can do to increase treble performance? Iām using third party tips (similar bore to stock, just a little longer for deeper insertion for a better seal) and the stock cable. Thanks for your thoughts!
You can try to adjust, but thatās a problem, to me, with most IEMs. Thatās one part of my library I enjoy the most. Mele wasnāt tuned with all of othat in mind. In fact, most IEMs arenāt.
Iāve talked openly about this somewhere around this thread. I donāt even love how an IEM like Variations does it. To me, the best replay for that, so far, are Teas, unless you go kilobuck (from those Iāve tried). Lokahi did this very well too, but since Teas did it better, I sold it.
Iāll talk about one track, just for the shake of time: Adele - Chasing Pavements.
Her voice sounds slight thinner. When her voice cracks up, specially on the chorus, itāll sound even thinner. Higher frequencies will sound capped. You get all the bones tho, just lacking some meat, IN MY OPINION.
This type of library, to be perfect replayed, youāre looking to invest a lot of bucks, IMO. At least Mangird Tea. Itās been a struggle for me. Itās very specific. I still think Mele does a good job on it, great for the price bracket.
I listened to Happier though this music is an extremely small part of my library. I like her and agree the Mele did good but not great. I can not comment on Adele as I find her later efforts thin vocally.
Also, Iāve tested some other female vocals 1 week ago on this thread.
From AudiophileResistance, Eartips Review to Mele
I find the stock tip to be more balanced out but having a real narrow soundstage. Sounded like a wall of sound. Those tips were where the mids were more forward in the mix.
Spinfit cp100 brings up the treble, but the bass and mids sounds the same level as the stock tips but the soundstage expanded. The bass seemed tighter thought.
Final E bring up the bass, trebble and stage. Bass seemed way louder. The treble seemed less pronounce than on the sprinfits (more than stock tips) and the stage a little less than the spin (more than stock tips).
I find Elecap EHP-CAP20 good for female vocals, but I think you can only get them trough Amazon JP.
Quoting @Rikudou_Goku here, and I fully agree with his statement:
āExcellent tips, essentially the same sound as the Final Type E except the bass is better on the Type EĀ“s while the upper mids (female vocals) are better on the CAP20ā
Iām curious to hear your answer to that
Hey I agree itās between the type E and C 100 for Mele. I found wider bore tips not as good. Spiral dots great on the departed H40 increase treble detail and make vocal harmony great. They emphasize treble to much and bass is just ok. The Sednas Crystals just did not work. Once again the best on the H40 that I tried. The light fits and regulars better than either the Spiral Dots orCrystal are clearly worse than the spin fits or final E. On prog and classic rock the two differ and either is fine I give a slight edge to the finals.
My son library similar to yours but he likes hip hop more than I think you do. He likes the Dusk a lot. I am borrowing it for a couple of days. I am also very interested in the UM 3 dt as Resolution thinks itās a good fit for my library I remember when I bought and sold gear like you do. That was in the late 70ās and 80ās. I am now retired and have a few year at personal audio. I have Sundaras which are good but open back planars can not be used around other people. I learning Iems but feel there are definite shrinking gains and feel the bang for buck categories of iems is the 200 to 450 usd approximately . That is where I plan to stay for now.
This is smart. For me itās around 300$. Thereās just so many good options, and some of my favourites aswell. Now joined by Timeless, 3DT (For metal-heads). Thereās also a lot of IEM incoming and HBB seems to know the āNew Teasā which should be revealed soon. Great time to be in the hobby
The question is, will you still keep the Teas or not
