đŸ”¶ Vokyl Erupts

@brux over at hart audio cables should be able to hook you up with something

Thanks for the response, really appreciate it!

The stock cables were so bad, I originally wanted to sell my headset. I just started using my Vokyl’s after sending them back in to Vokyl to be rewired. I am really enjoying them now with my balanced hart audio cable. They sound good on the the thx 789, but I think I may prefer them on the dark voice.

I got my erupts on Wednesday and I’m floored, absolutely shocked! I liked them more than my 6XX’s and sundara’s. I agree with Z, but just a few things here and their I think otherwise. The soundstage seems better than what he said cause the X2’s clearly didn’t have soundstage this good
I’ve never heard soundstage like this. It’s V shaped, so the mids are recessed, not slightly, not a lot, just a decent amount. It will only be an issue to mid heads.

is this getting a secondary review from you?

I’ll give a second review to see how they measure up in a month. The m570 sounds a little better than this.

nice hopefully z will do a second one as well to but uh if you can compare the comfort of the erupts to the m570 would be good to

Going to get my pair I’m getting in Jan wired normally, can anyone link me directly to a cable that will work with them?

Check @Towa 's comment above, Hart Cables.

I emailed Hart Cables regarding this last night but haven’t heard back yet. Once I do, I’ll post. It can’t hurt for more people to email them though to let them know it may be a good idea for them to add it on their standard order page.

I received a rely back from James at Hart Cables:

Hey Vinie, thanks for contacting us. Sorry of the delay getting back to you. Been swamped here. I’ve been working on doing a cable for those cans, but I keep seeing inconsistent stuff about what the stock cable actually is. I still haven’t found a definitive pinout for their stock cable either. If you can track that down or buzz it out yourself with a meter I can definitely make a cable for them. If you have pictures of your cable you could share with us that’d be amazing as well.

As for your order, please bear with us on the lead time. We’re working as fast as we can to try and meet the increase in demand lately.

Thanks again

  • James

Does anyone have this information that I can pass on to him?

Left uses Tip/Sleeve.
Right uses Ring/Sleeve.

I contacted Hart Audio Cables about a week ago about getting some cables for these but never got back, guessing either very busy or no solution or options for Erupts yet.

They might still be very backlogged, I ordered a custom cable for my Elex, which they now offer standard. I know they target 2 days turnaround, mines running 4+ weeks.
It’s not his day job, and I know he had some things happen in his personal life, hopefully they can get back on top of things.

They are pretty swamped right now. They were initially very responsive when I inquired about some custom cables for my some headphone connections that aren’t on their site currently, but after the first email, which was sent the same day as my question, they slowed down a bit. I’ve had some back and forth with them over the last few days again to finalize everything for my order. Originally, they said they would be able to get the cables shipped in a few days, but by the time everything was finalized, which took about 10 days, the delivery date is now the end of January. So that alone shows you the amount of interest/orders they’ve received over the last week or two.

It definitely appears that they got hit with the Zeos effect. Again though, they’ve continued to respond and been very easy to deal with, so it’s not another Ursine Audio type situation.

I have the Vokyl Erupts with the original wiring since some weeks and I am actually very happy with the sound and very annoyed by the cables. I only started to really use them (not for gaming) with replacement cables. Alternative cables are the ones sold for the Sol Republic Master Tracks HD / HD2 / V8 / V10 / 12 / X3
headphones which you can easily find on amazon for about 10 bucks. The Sol Republic cables have 2.5mm TRS stereo tips and small plugs which fit perfectly. The T and the R rings of the connectors are BOTH connected to hot/+ on both sides and the S ring is ground/- (I actually don’t know why they have chosen that pin-layout since I don’t own Sol Republic headphones). So you can not swap left and right like for the original cables but you get signal on both cups since one side is using the T and the other one the R ring. There are several variants and I tested two of them. Unfortunately those have Mics/remotes in the cables but there are variants without any inline-remote. Here in Germany the ones I successfully tested are:
cable and cable2. I am still waiting for the delivery of this one cable3 which does not have this IEM-style inline remote like the other two.

Thanks for the tip, ordered: nomic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPRDVK6/ and mic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMNWR1W/ got them in today and they both work.

Welcome. Here another tip for those who are not afraid of a bit DIY: I am not very good in soldering tiny connectors but manage to solder wires quite decently. Thus I cut the plugs plus some cm of cable of one of my spare SolRepublic cables and connected them to a balanced 4pol 2.5mm IEM cable of which I removed the (defective) MMCX connectors. Now I can drive the Vokyls balanced. It is for sure not an audiophile grade cable (very thin wires) but at least I can use the Vokyl with those of my DAC/AMP devices which ONLY have balanced outputs (i.e. iBasso DC01, PowerDACv2 and E1DA 9038s).

Which hart audio cables did you get specifically, can you link?

These will only work if the Vokyl’s are modded to be balanced.
