I think auteur pads for more bass and slam. I didnât even like the Verite pads with the VO. I was more of a universe pad guy.
Imo, if you want hybrid, get auteur hybrid. Again, more bass/slam.
The Verite pads have a thicker backing. Making the signature a little muffled imo. Itâs like some mids canât push through enough.
On the VC I find the Auteur to offer the most slam and the universe pads to me are a little more even sounding/less V-shaped.
@kcrack i honestly donât think the hybrid option changes too much. When I had the hybrid universe and be2 pads with the VO it was more of a comfort thing. The bigger change is in the perf and non perf options, as well as the all suede option. Plus youâd think less slam with hybrid because the suede touching your skin isnât as tight of a seal as all leather.
For the Auteur pads I have them in lambskin, which material offers the most slam and intensity? Is it worth getting another set of Auteur pads since I already have one? Also according to the zmf chart on pads the universe are more euphonic, does that mean more or less slam? For hard rock/metal is it worth trying to eq the verite closed or leave it as is? I found that the rock eq setting in itunes, has a sound signature I like more, but I am not sure about the values they are using it just gives a rough graph without q settings.
Imo the Auteur lambskin is the best option for bass and slam. You donât want perf lambskin on the closed and you donât want all suede. Some may disagree, but I feel the hybrid (suede on the part that touches your face and lambskin everywhere else) is more of a comfort preference.
if you want a back up set, thatâs up to you.
I believe so. Definitely more even sounding than the Auteur pads.
I personally donât eq anymore. I enjoy the VC with auteur pads as is.
What amp and dac you using? Maybe look into tubes if you donât have a tube amp.
Also maybe try tracks outside iTunes. Just a suggestion, but use what you feel works best for you.
I was just mentioning itunes because of the built in eq, I got a zmf pendant with some vintage tubes so I am covered there. I usually listen to music elsewhere I was just doing that because of the built in eq settings. Switching from the verite pads to auteur ones did make a noticeable difference in slam. I just want a tiny bit more, thatâs why I was hoping someone could help me out with eqâing them.
Just got the Verite closed limited edition African blackwoods. I made a little unboxing video, then demoed them with all three pads I have for them. They sound great, but I realized that contrary to popular option I prefer the Verite open. So, I used my polishing cloth and put them back in the seahorse case along with everything else they came with.
This is a brand new mint set, so if anyone is interested in skipping the extremely long wait which for me was over two months then Iâll sell them! And of course Iâll include the extra pair of pads that I ordered separately!
Actually please excuse thisâŠI always do this. I get a new headphone and hate it at first (except for the Arya that I loved immediately)
I took it back out and tried againâŠI get it now.
Itâs vastly different from the rest of my collection so the warmth and closed nature really took some brain burn in. Now Iâm pretty amazed.
Iâm also shocked that I like the Auteur pads because I absolutely never listened to anything that wasnât BE2 or verite pads on the open. These are just really unique that I couldnât quite understand them at first.
Hmmm that extra $2800 back in my wallet was seeming pretty tempting thoughâŠ
Anybody got a comparison of these with Aeon noire? DMS likes the $800 cans more than the VC
